Weather forecast for the BT Global Challenge fleet for the next 3 days, issued by The Meteorological Office at 0730 GMT on
Sunday 1st December 1996: An area of low pressure is expected to track to the south of the Falkland Islands, and its
associated trough will lead to some heavy showers to develop later today, clearing by Monday. Winds will back
southwesterly on Monday and become strong then veer mainly westerly as the race enters the open seas to the south of
mainland South America with some heavy rain later on Tuesday.
