Three day Weather Forecast issued by the Meteoroligical Office at 0700 UTC on Thursday 13 February 1997. A large area of high pressure centred over South Island will build slightly and move a little to the west during Friday. During Saturday it will continue to build before moving away to the east of New Zealand. A trough of low pressure lies over the eastern Tasman Sea and into the east coast of Australia bringing rain or showers, some heavy and thundery near or to the north of Sydney. Winds are expected to be east to southeast 15 to 20 knots at first becoming north-northeast later.
