BT GLOBAL CHALLENGE - HEATH INSURED II LEADS PACK OF
THREE RACING TO FINISH LINE

Southampton (UK), Sunday 27 October 1996

Heath Insured II and Ocean Rover have been fighting over 8th and 9th position for the past two
weeks, right up to within sight of the finish line. With 13 miles to go, Ocean Rover was looking like
she would maintain her lead, but Heath Insured II found an ounze more breeze and finally pipped
Ocean Rover of her 8th place, finishing at 03:37:03 hrs. Ocean Rover finished in just under 2 hours
later at 05:34:48 in 9th position.

Meanwhile, on nearing Rio, hot favourite of the BT Global Challenge Nuclear Electric, took the risk
of cutting sharply across the fleet to the east, in an attempt to pick up some wind further off the
coast to gain speed on Ocean Rover and Heath Insured who were lying some 10 miles ahead of
her. However she didn't find quite enough to prove a real competitor and she too found herself
caught in the frustratingly light, if at times any, wind condtitions finishing at 07:32:00 hrs GMT (time
subject to verification).

Skipper Richard Tudor of Nuclear Electric has taken just over a day off his time from the last
Challenge 1992/3, when he skippered British Steel II across the finishing line in first position. Tudor
will be very much looking forward to racing in the remaining 5 legs of the BT Global Challenge, after
a disappointing end to the 1992/3 Challenge, when British Steel II was dismasted in the Southern
Ocean.

Adrian Donovan also skippered Heath Insured II in the 1992/3 Challenge. Upon finishing the overall
race in 7th position, Adrian declared the Challenge as "unfinished business" prompting Heath to be
one of the first to sign up for the BT Global Challenge. Heath Insured II has proved herself under
continual pressure from Ocean Rover - we have yet to see if she can retain this in the next leg to
Wellington (NZ).

Meanwhile Paul Bennett, skipper of Ocean Rover, is confident that she will be a clear leader of the
fleet, having reported before embarking on this race "we've got a great crew, and I can't wait to
show the world exactly what Ocean Rover can do!"
