    Yacht Name - Nuclear Electric

Nuclear Electric Ltd and Magnox Electric plc have their roots in Nuclear Electric plc, the former generating company which owned and operated 12 nuclear power stations in England and Wales until April 1st 1996. This restructuring was required to facilitate the Government's decision to move elements of the nuclear generating industry into the private sector.

Nuclear Electric Ltd, a subsidiary of British Energy plc, owns and operates the new Sizewell B pressurised water reactor, together with five advanced gas cooled reactors. The company is based at Barnwood in Gloucestershire. Nuclear Electric provides around 14% of Britain's electricity needs.

Based in Berkeley in Gloucestershire, Magnox Electric plc remains wholly owned by the Government. The company's six magnox power stations and one hydro-electric plant have the capacity to supply around 8% of the electricity market. Magnox Electric is responsible for the decommissioning of three power stations across the UK, and has recently been awarded a contract to undertake dismantling of the Windscale AGR reactor in Sellafield.
